WIthin Bookperformance: Body & Sound & Light & Eye, Çiğdem Mirol explores perception as a co-creative act. Bookperformance approaches the body as a multisensory site where reading and writing become an embodied event. Eye bserve, but also it listens. Sound accompanies language, but also writes. Light illuminates from the outside, but also participates from within. The body is therefore the condition through which perception becomes enaction. All this contextually co-creates the happening within the dynamics of space. Since 2014, this understanding has unfolded through Mirol's artistic research across literature, music, manuscript cultures, visual arts, and instrument collections. Her syneasthetic alphabet of sonic bodies further extends this inquiry by writing vibrational experience. The alphabet attends to resonance as a material presence. Body, sound, light, and eye are relational conditions through which life continuously authors itself. Every Bookperformance becomes an invitation to perceive differently, where reading exceeds the page and unfolds through the stage within living reciprocity of bodies, sounds, lights and eyes which are contextually experienced as long-durational Bookperformance explorations.
